Desert Portraits - Joshua Tree

A couple years ago, one of my favorite fine art photographers Mona Kuhn published a series called "Private”. Exploring the series further in an interview with The Last Magazine, she said “for her, the body is a site of residence in itself, and the desert is a place full not only of danger and heat, but also magic and sensual pleasure."

I can't help but share the same sentiment and revisited Kuhn's series only after I had returned from a weekend portrait session in Joshua Tree with my friend and model Lindsey. For this session, I wanted to create a juxtaposition between grit, grain, and fem energy within the desert.

Please note that there is some nudity (breasts) in the following photos. SO TURN BACK NOW if that's not your bag, baby.

Little tidbit - My Instagram feed always features a song lyric appropriate to or sentimental to the photo itself. Since I featured Lindsey this week on IG, I reached out for her to choose two songs to accompany her photos. I added those music videos below to set the tone.

Until next time,
